BOOKING has just opened for events in Keswick’s Theatre By the Lake’s new brochure covering the period from January to May.

The familiar wide range of productions and events is on offer throughout the first half of the year.

Highlights include a Main House production of The History Boys by Alan Bennett, the Jennings Keswick Jazz Festival and the Words By the Water Literature Festival.

Alan Bennett is a big favourite with Theatre by the Lake audiences.

The History Boys, first staged at the National Theatre in 2004, is set in the 1980s in a boys’ grammar school in the North of England.

It runs from Saturday March 24 until Saturday April 28.

Once again the theatre is encouraging young people under 26 to experience live theatre by offering Friday £5 tickets for The History Boys (terms and conditions apply).

To book, call the box office on 017687 74411 or book online at www.theatrebythelake.com.

Spring is the time for three festivals at Theatre By the Lake and the new season brochure contains more information on the 13th Keswick Film Festival, 21st Jennings Keswick Jazz Festival and 11th Words By the Water: A Festival of Words and Ideas. Booking is now open for all three.

The theatre also welcomes many visiting productions and companies including Alistair McGowan and Charlotte Page in Sincerely Noël; Opera della Luna’s new production of Lehar’s operetta The Merry Widow in a sparkling new English translation; Robert Powell and Elizabeth Garvie in A Celebration of Charles Dickens and the talented folk band Tarras.
