There’s a new look and a later start to Layton Institute’s summer show for 2011.

Re-branded as Viva....Live At The Layton!, the show will run from August 25 to November 5 with performances every Tuesday to Saturday.

After the success of last winter’s Christmas show in the venue’s Cabaret Lounge, entertainer Leye D Johns and Martin Heywood will be producing and directing the new show under their Dudley Leisure banner with choreography from Lucy Gallagher.

“We were over the moon with the success of our Christmas Party Nights at the venue and were flattered to be approached by the venue to produce the summer show and carry on the great work which has been put in place by the likes of Antony Johns at Stageworks and Emmi J Productions,” said Leye.

“The Layton summer show is a true Blackpool institution with a fantastic record of top class entertainment and every credit to the place for having the vision and ambition to stay at the top of its field when others are making cuts and opting for low cost, low value live entertainment options which are a false economy.

“There is a market for a fantastic production show in this kind of venue and we’re delighted to assist The Layton with the seasonal show and marketing this year and I hope it will be the start of many more with our new Viva brand.”

The Layton show is Blackpool’s longest running seasonal production and is now in its 42nd year.

Viva... Live At The Layton will star vocalists Rob Linacre and Darren Coulton returning to the venue after a successful summer season last year, joined by the female singer Jodie Kate.

The comedians will rotate nightly and are Carl Schofield (Tuesday), Terry Cotta (Thursday), Jimmy Bright (Wednesday and Saturday) and Jo Little (Friday).

The Viva Showgirls complete the cast.

There’s a different twist to Friday nights too. For the first time ever in the season show’s history the venue is allowing under 18’s into the lounge for their ‘Family Fridays’ so that mum and dad can enjoy a night out with the kids.

Admission will be £5 per person with group booking discounts for larger parties. Bookings can be made online at www.blackpoolshows.net or by calling the booking line on (01253) 391774

Leye D Johns also returns to the venue later in the year for the Christmas Party Night season from December 2 right the way through to January 8 and bookings are being taken now for the All Leye Wants For Christmas Is You festive theme nights on their dedicated Christmas booking line (01253) 352 301.0
