Blackpool Odeon is one of just 50 UK cinemas screening Talking Heads musician and frontman David Byrne’s concert film Ride, Rise, Roar on Thursday.

The screening will be followed by an exclusive live Q&A with Byrne which will be broadcast via satellite across the UK and Eire from the Ritzy Brixton in London.

Ride, Rise, Roar (cert 12A) blends onstage performances with intimate details of the creative collaborations that make Byrne’s music and performance happen.

Shot with multiple cameras over several concerts during his 2008/2009 tour, the film blends the energy and charisma of classic Talking Heads with the heartfelt pathos of David Byrne and Brian Eno’s most recent collaboration.

Between the songs, the film achieves an unprecedented intimacy with David Byrne and the band, documenting behind-the-scenes auditions, rehearsals, and interviews with key players while revealing the creative process that led to the show’s unique fusion of pop music and modern dance.

Ride, Rise, Roar celebrates Byrne’s extensive career as a musician and testifies to the creativity that keeps him going today.

Tickets are available from the Odeon in advance or on the door and the screening starts at 8.30pm on Thursday.

It is presented by Kaleidoscope Entertainment with partner Arts Alliance Media.

From Arts Alliance Media Elizabeth Draper said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to take an exclusive Live Q&A with a special musician such as David Byrne and share this with as wide an audience as possible throughout the UK and Eire. It’s the great benefit of digital cinema, and satellite technology, that allows audiences to experience unique events as if they were there.”

Duke’s Diary in conjunction with Blackpool Odeon has 10 pairs of tickets to give away to Ride, Rise, Roar.
