* Rossall School’s imposing chapel of St John the Baptist is the venue for a grand choral concert on Saturday evening as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations.

Several Fylde choral groups will perform including Fleetwood Choral Society, the Beecham Singers, Blackpool and Fylde Barber Shop Chorus, Rossall School Choir and the School Junior Choir.

There will also be supporting performances from soloist Lucy Mair.

The concert begins at 7pm and is open to members of the public.

Rossall’s senior and junior choirs will be in action again on Sunday at 7pm when the Bishop of Lancaster, the Right Revd Nicholas Reade will deliver the sermon in a special service to mark the 150th anniversary of the Anglican chapel.

Further events will take place throughout the anniversary year as Rossall School celebrates its heritage and its importance to the Anglican Church in the region.

* Fylde coast opera company Musica Lirica Opera is performing Mozart’s The Magic Flute at 7pm nightly until Saturday at the Visual Noise Arts Centre, Michael Hall Theatre School, 19 Preston Old Road, Marton.

The Magic Flute, is Mozart’s fairy tale/pantomime opera which is given a new twist in this action packed production.

Characters include the Queen of the Night whose spectacular music is known by non-opera goers and avid opera fans alike.

* Due to unforeseen circumstances the first Fylde Arts Junior Midday will not be held tomorrow as previously advertised.

The first recital will now be on Friday June 29 when pupils from Kirkham Grammar School will present a miscellaneous programme at Lytham Assembly Rooms.
