Blackpool’s Grundy Art Gallery is getting ready to rock.
As part of its current exhibition – The Blackpool Art Fair – the Grundy on Queen Street is featuring a special back catalogue exhibition of Blackpool band and Factory Records stars Section 25.
The exhibition includes album artwork by renowned Factory Records art director and graphic designer Peter Saville alongside a variety of band memorabilia.
Also featured is a tribute to the art of Larry Cassidy, founder member of Section 25, who passed away in 2010.
It runs until next Saturday, January 14, when a special semi-acoustic performance by Section 25 will close the exhibition, followed by an ‘in conversation’ session between band members and music journalist and broadcaster John Robb.
“I think the exhibition is a great tribute to both my late father and mother, and to an influential and well loved Blackpool band,” said Bethany Cassidy, lead singer with Section 25. “It’s insightful, emotive and necessary.”
A spokesman at the Grundy said: “It promises to be an unforgettable and unique evening combining art, music and rock culture.”
Doors will open at 8pm. The event is free but advance booking is required as there is limited capacity. Contact the Grundy by telephone (01253) 478170 or e-mail email@example.com to reserve a place.
The free admission exhibition is open Monday to Saturday,10am to 5pm. The Blackpool Art Fair is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. The Section 25 event is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
