GET your skates on..... smash hit musical Starlight Express is heading to Blackpool Opera House.

Producer Bill Kenwright’s revival of one of the best loved and longest running musicals in theatrical history, makes its resort debut from October 30 to November 10 – coinciding with half term holidays and the end of the Illuminations.

Starlight Express first opened to packed houses at the Apollo Victoria in London’s West End in 1984 where it ran for more than 7,000 performances. It is one of the most successful musicals ever with the German production still running in Bochum after 25 years.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Richard Stilgoe’s futuristic tale about love and hope in the face of adversity is two hours of speed, spectacle, energy, daredevil stunts and turbo charged excitement – performed on roller skates to an electrifying sound track.

Internationally renowned choreographer and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips is back on board as director and “roller-ographer”.

She choreographed the original West End production and directed and choreographed several subsequent productions of the show. Her extensive credits also include Saturday Night Fever, Grease, We Will Rock You and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Tickets go on sale from 11am on Monday at the Winter Gardens box office (0844 856 1111) and
