Fylde coast residents across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre are being offered half price admission to one of the area’s biggest attractions.

Locals living in postcodes FY1 to FY8, PR3 and PR4 can take advantage of the 50 per cent March Madness discount at Blackpool Zoo.

Jude Rothwell, Marketing and PR Co-ordinator at the zoo, said: “This is the sixth year running that we have offered a 50 per cent discount to local people and we are always delighted to see the number of people that come through the doors.

“It is our way of saying thank you to Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde residents for their support throughout the year and it is brilliant to be able to give them the chance to visit their favourite zoo for a fraction of the price.”

Bosses say Blackpool Zoo is planning another bumper year that will include the return of firm favourites the orangutans and they are hopeful that lots of different animals will give birth throughout spring and summer.

A statement from the zoo said: “The Western Lowland gorilla group is thriving and with two youngsters running round there is always plenty to see.

“The family of sea lions are another firm favourite, and children love to watch the pups Niko and Rubi trying to get in on the act during displays.”

The attraction is also encouraging residents to sign up for memberships at the attraction.

They start at £34.50 for a child’s membership and go up to £175.50 for a family of five.

They give unlimited access to the zoo until the end of 2014, for the price of three visits.

There has been a huge surge in interest in the package over the past 12 months and the zoo will be continuing its popular series of members-only events in 2014.

March Madness visitors need to provide valid identification as proof of address such as a driving licence or recent utility bill.

Up to six people per household can take advantage of the discount but it cannot be used in conjunction with family tickets or any other offers.

Zoo members can also bring their guests in at half price throughout March.

Discount applies to all full price individual tickets, not for family tickets.

March Madness prices are £8 for adults, £5.75 for children and £7 for senior
