Eddie Taylor will give the third Fylde Arts Buffet Talk on Friday at the Dicconson Terrace Assembly Rooms in Lytham starting at 2pm.
Eddie Is the secretary of both Fylde Arts Association and Lytham St Annes Choral Society and was previously a lecturer in mathematics and statistics at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.
It was there that Eddie gained his love of recreational mathematics and in particular of the art of Escher.
This talk introduces some of the illusions used by scientists to study the eye and brain and features work by the acclaimed cult figure Dutch artist Morits Cornelis Escher (1898 – 1974), who forms a bridge between mathematics and art.
He is regarded as the modern day expert on tiling patterns and later in his life produced pictures which contain illusions to show the limitations in using flat pictures to illustrate the three dimensional world.
The illustrated talk starts at 2pm.
Tickets cost £7. It will be followed by the buffet.
Bookings can be taken by phone up to 8pm on Thursday to Marjorie Pennington on (01772) 682987.
Ordered tickets can be collected on the door.
Cheques should be made payable to Fylde Arts.
