A popular eaterie celebrated Independence Day in style by launching a new menu to run over the next fortnight.

The Ship in Elswick is serving up smoked haddock and corn chowder with a rustic croute; tasty Louisiana crab cakes with watercress and lemon tails to coincide with the American holiday.
Two mains are available for £20 Monday to Thursday.
