Joe Longthorne returns to Blackpool Grand Theatre tonight, just weeks after recovering from a serious car crash.
Originally due to open his summer season show on Thursday July 28, Joe was so keen to get back on stage at one of his favourite theatres he is now opening a week earlier than planned.
Joe will be accompanied by comedian Mick Miller, vocalist Carol Kaye, all round entertainer Leye D Johns and special guest Lynda McMurray as well as a six-piece dance troupe.
Joe returns to the stage after being injured in a serious car accident last month when his driver had a sudden seizure as they were travelling to Cheshire and his foot became stuck on the accelerator. The car overturned at high speed and Joe just managed to escape with a broken nose and ribs. He has since been recovering at home and was determined to get back to full health as soon as possible for his summer show at the Grand.
Joe said: “I love the Grand. It’s one of the most beautiful theatres in the country and I am more comfortable there than anywhere else. I can’t wait for the season to begin and with Mick, Leye, Carol and the dancers, as well as my special guest Lynda McMurray, I know we are going to have a cracking season, so let’s get this party started.”
Grand Theatre chief executive and general manager, Neil Thomson, said: “Joe is a true professional and a real friend of the theatre, so we are delighted by his speedy recovery and also by the fact he has decided to launch the Grand’s summer season earlier. It’s going to be a fantastic show.”
