EVER looked in the mirror and thought ‘I want to be Judy Garland’?

Personally I haven’t, well apart from one September evening in late 1989, but I was a teenager and unsure about things, you know how it is…

However, if you are a Garland fan and you fancy following in her footsteps, then read on for this could be the thing for you.

One young lady is being sought to star as Dorothy in a brand new professional production of the Wizard of Oz this Easter at North Pier Theatre.

Whoever lands the role will find themselves on stage alongside Big Brother star Grace Adams-Short, comedian Jolly Goode and a professional supporting cast.

The chosen artist will perform at Blackpool’s North Pier Theatre over the Easter holidays, from Saturday March 30 until Saturday April 13 (excluding Mondays and Tuesday).

“This is a great opportunity for a young person to gain more experience working with a professional theatre company, “ said producer Kevin Brown. Dorothy is a vulnerable girl with great dreams and progressively throughout the show her character blossoms along with her confidence. “We’re looking for a singer, actress and a dancer all in one.”

Audition forms must be filled in online at but you’ll have to be quick - applications close on Thursday at 5pm. Auditions will be held at the North Pier Theatre this coming Sunday.

Wannabe Dorothy’s must be over the age of 16 with an excellent singing voice. They must be prepared to sing a ballad and possibly an up-tempo song of their choice at their audition.

Potential leading ladies will be required to learn the audition script in a bid to impress show bosses.

They must wear a close-fitting dress or dance wear and bring along their own personal backing track (in CD format).

Anyone interested must be able to attend rehearsals in Liverpool from Saturday 23 to Friday 29 March and be available to perform at all performances (which start at 2pm).

Those not interested in being Dorothy but fancy booking tickets for the show can do so at or via the 24-hour Ticketmaster hotline on 0844 847 2452.

Tickets are on sale now at £10 per person with family tickets available (£25 for a family of three or £30 for a family of four).
