DERREN Brown is guest of honour at the Blackpool Magicians Convention this weekend.
You must have heard of this, for it’s one of the biggest and best magic events in the country.
More than 100 top magicians from all over the world are booked in to perform, with entertainers like Ken Dodd and Joe Pasquale joining in the fun.
There are also master classes, demonstrations, lectures and after-show parties.
Brown, who found fame with TV shows like Russian Roulette - where the magician fired a gun into people’s heads (that isn’t quite as gruesome as it sounds: everyone survived the experience), isn’t putting on a show but he will be in the audience and having a gander at other acts.
The event started today and takes place throughout the Winter Gardens complex, including the Empress Ballroom, Opera House, Spanish Hall and Pavilion Theatre.
Arthur Casson, who helps organise the annual event, said: “This is the highlight of the magic calendar locally and it should be fantastic.
“It isn’t often you get the chance to see so many magicians in one weekend and there really is something for everyone.”
This year’s is the 61st Blackpool Magicians Convention and more than 3,500 people are expected to attend.
