FORGET donkeys and deck chairs – a new TV show is set to show Blackpool and the Fylde coast in a whole new light.

Champagne, Ferraris and frolicking in whirlpool baths will be central to the reality programme, FY1, as it uncovers the lifestyles of the Fylde coast’s rich and glamourous.

In a similar style to hit reality show, The Only Way is Essex, FY1 will follow around five local characters along with their families and friends.

Ryan Muldoon, co-owner and producer for JTL Productions Ltd, said a 20 minute pilot will be produced this Spring to show “a very different Blackpool than appears on the cheeky postcard” .

He said: “We want to put Blackpool and Fylde back on the map. We’ll be featuring what people’s daily life is like.

“We are doing a pilot which will go out to a number of networks.

“We are talking to a number of well-known people in the area – from business people to some who have just left university. We’re hoping to cast in the next two weeks and then start filming in about three or four weeks.”

The idea for the show came from Lytham resident Jonathan Toomey and auditions have already taken place at Henry’s Bar and Grill in Lytham.

Some of the filming is set to take place around Lytham and a couple of bars in Blackpool.

Mr Muldoon added: “We are hoping to hit the networks towards the back end of May.

“Hopefully we’ll then be able to do a full series.”
