TV star Holly Quin-Ankrah (best known for her role as reformed sex worker Cheryl Gray, who broke the heart of taxi driver Lloyd Mullaney, in Coronation Street) will be making a special guest appearance at The Sands Venue’s Swing Spectacular, tomorrow along with popular singer/entertainer Jeff Hooper.

Accompanied by their resident seven-piece swing band, led by Neil Shatliff, they will be performing classic hits from the likes of Etta James, Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Jack Jones, Matt Monroe and many more.

While Holly has been busy with her acting career in both Coronation Street and Grange Hill, where for five years she played the role of Karen Young, she has always been in great demand as a vocalist either as a solo performer or in collaborations with artists such as Rick Astley and Russell Watson.

Effortlessly slipping from one genre to another with a smouldering ease and sexy style makes it understandable that major recording companies are hot on her trail.

Joining Holly on this special evening will be Welsh big band singer and entertainer Jeff Hooper.

Making his eagerly awaited return to The Sands Swing Spectacular, Jeff brings his own unique style, warmth and humour to the evening.

He is affectionately regarded as ‘Godfather’ of the current crop of UK big band singers and developed his talent as a singer with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

Early in his career, he worked with Matt Monro (who taught him how to tie a bow tie!), Morecambe and Wise, and Stephane Grapelli. A friend of the great lyricist Hal David (of Bacharach and David fame) he has performed new songs by him at David’s request.

Jeff is a great favourite on the BBC Radio 2 show Friday Night Is Music Night. He performs regular overseas concert tours, luxury cruises and is in constant demand across Britain as well as regularly performing in some of the world’s top jazz clubs, concert halls and cabaret spots.

He has been selected once again to be the main singer for the Strictly Come Dancing Tour.

Tickets for this special Sands event are now available at the special price of £24.99, which includes a three-course meal served before the show.
