There can be few more indulgent ways to spend an evening in Blackpool than tasting fine wines and cheeses in the impressive surrounds of The Winter Gardens.

The Empress Grill has launched a new and exclusive event for cheese and wine connoisseurs - the Blackpool Cheese and Wine Evening.

The event is to be hosted by The Lancashire Wine School, whose experts will be on hand to teach guests how to taste wine and the principles of food and wine matching.

Guests will also be able to sample brand new bottles from all over the world and a wealth of unusual cheeses.

Visitors will be able to take part in a guided tour of the world-famous venue too.

General manager Kathy Smith said: “The evening will give people the chance to learn how to taste wine professionally, in pleasant surroundings.

“It will also unveil the secrets and hidden treasures inside the Winter Gardens.”

The Cheese and Wine evening takes place in the Empress Grill Room at 7pm on November 8.

Tickets cost £26.50 which includes a tasting of six wines, a demonstration of tasting wine professionally, learning the seven basic styles of cheese, principles of food and wine matching, full tasting notes and a guided tour.
