Cirque du Ciel is the latest signing for Blackpool North Pier Theatre.
The internationally acclaimed production of ShangHi from Cirque du Ciel arrives in UK this spring and will be in Blackpool on Friday and Saturday April 20 and 21 for just three performances.
Cirque Du Ciel’s ShangHi – originally directed in China by Cirque Du Soleil’s Guy Caron – takes the audience on a journey through the mysterious dreams of a little girl as she explores her fantasies.
With over 30 multi-talented and skilled performers, the two-hour extravaganza combines acrobatics, modern dance, martial arts, original music and many other traditional and modern Chinese elements in a fantasy adventure and has been hailed as “the next generation of Cirque du Soleil”.
ShangHi boasts more than 500 different costumes, intricate scenery and evocative lighting. The production showcases the skills of not only the striking performers, but also the world-class artistic team who created and devised the multi-medium spectacle.
The routines include hat juggling, aerial silks, acrobatics and stunts, magical illusions and the famous death defying Chinese monkey poles – a mix of balancing, tumbling, spinning and brilliant live drumming.
The three performances of Cirque du Ciel’s ShangHi are Friday April 20 at 7.30pm and Saturday April 21 at 2 and 7.30pm. Tickets priced £21.50 adults, £19.50 seniors, £15 for children and £60 for a family of four are on sale now.
