CHART-topping pop star James Morrison will perform at Blackpool’s Illuminations Switch On party.
An international multi-million selling artist, James is renowned for his live performances as well as such modern day classics as “You Give Me Something”, “Wonderful World”, “You Make It Real” and “Broken Strings”.
The singer-songwriter joins a stella line-up of stars for Blackpool’s big bash – on Friday, September 2.
Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, Mike and the Mechanics’ star Paul Carrack, girl band Wonderland and The Overtones, were announced last week.
More big names are to follow shortly, together with the main switch on star who will follow in Robbie Williams’ footsteps from last year.
James said: “I’m always excited to be playing live, especially at such a big occasion as the Blackpool Illuminations.”
He added: “The organ player from my band Richard Milner is from Blackpool,
“He brings all the comedy that’s from the place with him.”
Real Radio’s Dave Shearer, the man responsible for bringing the acts to The Blackpool Illuminations Switch On together with visitBlackpool, added: “James is a fantastic addition to the 2011 line-up.
“He is a consummate live performer with an incredible catalogue of great songs to call on which audiences love. This is shaping up to be another incredible Switch On, but it’s not over yet as there are even more names to be announced very soon.”
Coun Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s portfolio holder for Tourism and Culture said: “This is another great name adding to the already brilliant line-up. It’s going to be a fantastic event and we look forward to finding out who the Big Switch On celebrity will be along with the remainder of the line-up.”
