YOU just know that an email beginning “despite 43% of the UK’s annual rod license sales coming from the North West, a dedicated Angling Show has never been hosted before in the north” is going to be worth reading.
And so it proved. Good news for folk who like to sit on riverbanks - the first ever angling show in this region will take place next month, with more than 10,000 visitors expected.
The Northern Angling Show is being staged at EventCity, at Manchester’s Trafford Centre, on March 23 and 24, featuring purpose-built lakes for carp and coarse fishing and an ice and wet room so amateur fishermen can test some of the latest gear from exhibitors in the harshest of conditions.
This means nothing to me but there will also be rig and bait clinics (?), not to mention celebrities/fishing fans likes former decathlete Dean Macey (who is apparently one of the biggest personalities in carp fishing ... you learn something new every day).
TV stars Matt Hayes and Ali Hamidi will also be there, along with world champion match angler, Sean Ashby.
What more could you want?
Jamie Clossick, who is organising the event, said: “There is something for everyone happening over the two days and whether you’re a regular angler or keen on building up your expertise and equipment it promises to be an exciting two days.”
Tickets are on sale priced at £10.00 for a daily ticket, or £15.00 for the weekend.
