Owners of the Last Orders in Sherbourne Road, North Shore, are giving the watering hole a revamp and want ideas for a new name.

Hawthorn Leisure bought Last Orders from the previous owners, in 2014. It was converted from residential property decades ago when it was first named the Sherbourne Arms, understandably because of its location.

Area manager Nick Davies said: “We did put the question to locals but even that drew a blank. Not to say we didn’t have some interesting and fun suggestions, but none we think appropriate!”

He said current suggestions included North Shore Tavern, while the tongue in cheek, Pop Inn, was also put forward but rejected by bosses.

He said: “We need to find a name by Thursday, ready for the outside decoration and signage to start February 27 – so we welcome all suggestions!”

Nominations can be forwarded by emailing [email protected] with the suggested name. The company will also be keeping an eye on comments on the Gazette’s web page.

He added: “We do genuinely want locals to pick the name but our decision will be final just so we don’t end up being called something like the Donkey Derby!”

The pub is open while external works take place, but will then close for internal works days Monday, March 6, reopening Friday,March 10.
