It was party time for Yorkshire comic Billy Pearce when he performed his record-breaking 1000th performance at Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Billy was inundated with gifts, cards and flowers from his fans on the night and the Grand threw him an exclusive after show party in Matcham’s bar, where he was congratulated by showbusiness chums, co-stars and family and friends and presented with a special cake.

This season’s Billy Pearce Laughter Show follows record-breaking box office takings for his previous summer shows at the Grand, more summer appearances at the theatre than any other artist and an exceptional week at the theatre’s box office in the first week of this year’s summer season.

The Leeds-born all rounder brings The Billy Pearce Laughter Show to the Grand every Tuesday until October 25 as part of the theatre’s summer line-up.

Achievement

Grand Theatre general manager and chief executive, Neil Thomson, congratulated Billy on the night and said: “This is a tremendous achievement for a very talented performer and this new record follows sensational box office sales when the show was launched, which just goes to prove that this year’s summer shows at the Grand are just the ticket for family entertainment.”

Billy is joined in this year’s show by Neil Hurst, Emma Gilmore and a six strong dance troupe – the Stardust Dancers.

Billy was stunned to receive so many congratulations and said on his big night: “Thanks so much everyone for your kind messages and gifts. I have always loved performing at this beautiful Matcham theatre and we are having so much fun this summer. Here’s to the next 1,000 performances.”

Show producer Tony Jo added: “Billy is a very popular performer and I’m delighted the show is going so well and we are glad to be back at the beautiful Grand Theatre. Congratulations to Billy on yet another record.”
