Singing star Daniel O’Donnell is back in Blackpool tomorrow – headling a new 12 part satellite television series which looks behind the resort’s showbusiness scene.
Over the next 12 months executive producer John Paul says the series, called Backstage Blackpool, will be filming “just about anything and anyone that helps to attract visitors to the town – we are committed to boosting the image of Blackpool, and the hard-working entertainers and showbiz professionals who make this town a major tourist attraction.”
The first episode is being transmitted tomorrow on Sky Showcase (channel 201) at 9pm and will run for an hour. It will be repeated on Thursday at 2pm, April 2 at 9pm and April 3 at 2pm. FreeSat viewers can find the programme on channel 403.
Headlining the first show is Daniel O’Donnell who was filmed before his recent Opera House show.
The series will run monthly looking at all aspects of Blackpool’s entertainment business including up and coming performers and complete beginners together with major names. The golden age of British holidaymaking may have declined in the face of competition from the package holidays but there is still a staggering amount going on right here – and we will be there to film it all! ,” said John.
Presenters include Karl Long, James Reay and Ben Bellushi (pictured left). Local entertainer Tony Jo is executive consultant.
