Award winning Catalan pianist Néstor Bayona Pifarré is tomorrow’s guest at North Fylde Music Circle’s monthly recital.
The 25 years old performer began his musical education age six and by 17 was at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music with Helen Krizos where he was awarded with the highest prize given by the college, the Gold Medal, and was a winner of the Piano Recital Prize and the Piano Duo Prize together with the Spanish pianist Luis Becerra.
In 2008, Néstor won a special prize in the Ibiza Piano Competition and in 2009 he was awarded the prestigious Philip & Dorothy Green Young Concert Artist Award from the organisation Making Music.
More recently, Néstor has been selected as a Park Lane Group Young Artists for the New Year Concert Series 2011.
He has worked with the conductors Jordi Mora, Baldur Brönnimann, Robin Browning, the harpsichordist Sharon Gould, and the pianists Melvyn Tan, Alexander Melnikov, Angela Hewitt, Richard Goode and Robert Levin.
Throughout the last season he has performed with the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra and the Petersfield Orchestra and during this season he performed with Orquestra Julià Carbonell. In addition, later this month he will be performing Bach’s Goldberg variations on his harpsichord.
Néstor is artist in residence of the Centre d’Estudis Pianístics in Barcelona and is currently studying in Geneva Conservatoire with Nelson Goerner.
