Following the success of previous years, Blackpool Art Society has launched an even more comprehensive workshop and tutorial programme commencing on
October 2.

They are aimed at both experienced artists who are seeking to improve and also complete beginners and will cover subjects such as portraiture, still life, vibrant pastels, oils, acrylics and print making.

Specifically for people with no experience, the society is providing five week tutorials on introduction to pencil work, beginners guide to acrylics, understanding watercolour and how to paint in oils.

These are all available to members of the society, especially to new members who join now.

With the society having its own studio for use of members the pricing is good.

Elaine Robinson, president, says: “We recognise that not everyone has the time to spend a whole year or term attending night school classes and would maybe like a shorter introduction course to the arts.

“I feel that it is important that the society fills that need, not only to help our existing experienced artists but also reach out to people who always wanted to paint and don’t know how.

“Our various painting groups meet in the studio throughout the week which means that new members can continue to paint after the tutorials and receive guidance should they want it.”

New members are more than welcome. Call (01253) 790692 or (01253) 349536 for more details.
