BLACKPOOL Soul Club has an extra room open tomorrow to cope with demand for their increasingly popular Northern Soul nights.
The monthly night was launched in January at the Wainwright Club on Hornby Road and was packed out. Last month’s was even busier.
“We could never have imagined how successful it would turn out to be. After our opening night we were completely overwhelmed by the interest and support from both local and people from further afield,” said Kevin Mackay, one of the organisers.
“Last month we had to restrict numbers for health and safety reasons. It saddened us having to turn people away and we were determined to do all we could to try and prevent it happening again.
“We have managed to solve this problem temporarily by securing a second room within the Wainwright Club albeit for only a few dates this year.”
It means there’s a choice of music at tomorrow’s Soul Night. Upstairs will be across the board Northern Soul with Jimmy Scriv doing a Twisted Wheel set. The other DJ’s are Mick Ellis and Bryan Waklin.
Downstairs is a Tamla Motown room the DJ’s are John (Butty) Stewart and Tim Rabjohn.
Tomorrow’s event starts at 8pm and ends at 1am. Get there early to make sure you get in.
