Stars of Strictly Come Dancing are about to move into Blackpool for the summer.
Katya Virshilas and Jared Murillo head the cast of Puttin’ On The Ritz at the Grand Theatre for five weeks.
Joining them in the celebration of classic musical theatre will be Becky O’Brien, whose voice wowed viewers of Britain’s Got Talent this year.
Puttin’ On The Ritz is a musical journey through the work of three legendary composers; Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin.
Song and dance numbers will include Cheek to Cheek, Alexander’s Rag Time Band, Birth of the Blues, Swanee, Night and Day, I Got Rhythm, Easter Parade, and the show’s title track.
Katya and Jared are looking forward to their stay, with a house rented in Lytham, and plans to make the most of their time in the area.
They’ve both visited regularly from a young age, competing in the legendary Blackpool Dance Festival at the Winter Gardens, the international celebration of ballroom and Latin dance, which attracts the world’s best.
Expect slick harmonies, glamorous costumes and ballroom dancing skills – as well as a ‘crazy lindy bop’ routine from Katya and Jared, among other treats in this ‘all singing, all dancing feel-good production’.
Although the Grand’s brochure also lists X Factor and Dancing On Ice star Ray Quinn as appearing, a statement released has confirmed ‘due to other commitments out of the Grand Theatre and Spirit Production’s control, Ray Quinn will unfortunately no longer be performing in Puttin’ On The Ritz at the Grand.’
