IF you’re looking to carve the perfect pumpkin tonight, how about this for a spooktacular design?

Zico Allen and Poppy Jones have been crowned the winners of The Gazette’s Design a Pumpkin competition, which was run in conjunction with The Winter Gardens.

The eight-year-olds will celebrate their win in style at tonight’s Halloween family party in the Empress Ballroom after their artistic efforts won most votes from Gazette readers.

Sue Bentley, promotions manager for The Gazette, said: “We were inundated with entries and we really impressed by the standard.

“The designs were fabulous and I’m sure Zico and Poppy will have a great time at the Halloween party.

“We’d like to thank everyone for taking part in the competition.”

Poppy, a pupil at Norbreck Academy, and Zico, from Anchorsholme Primary School, each received a family ticket to the Halloween party and an art pack.

Tickets are still available for the fright night, which will start from 6.30pm tonight.

The Empress Ballroom will be transformed into a spooky haunted mansion complete with ghostly goings-on around every corner and some spooktacular fun and games.

The event will feature children’s entertainer Joni Pil, a UV light show, a fancy dress competition for both adults and children and a disco.

A monster menu will also be available for anyone who fancies a bite to eat. Tickets cost £5 for children, £7.50 for adults or entrance for a family of four costs £22.

Tickets are available at the Winter Gardens Box Office, on-line via www.blackpoollive.com or on the night subject to availability.
