John Singleton, chairman of Staining Parish Council said: “Everyone involved had a fantastic night’s entertainment.

“The display was excellent and there was a really good turn-out, despite it being a chilly evening.

“My thanks goes to the parish councillors who were involved with the event and helping to make it the success it was.”

Display sparks family fun

SPECTATORS were treated to a superb firework display in Garstang.

Hundreds of people flocked to the High Street car park and River Wyre picnic area on Saturday night for the fun family event.

David Lewis, organiser and member of the Garstang Lions said: “It was a very successful evening. We had a good-sized crowd, decent weather and everyone seemed very happy.

“The bonfire was lit by town mayor Sandra Perkins and while families enjoyed the displays, people could enjoy refreshments and food, including hot pot, chocolates and tea and coffee.

“I must say a big thank-you to businesses in the town who helped support us, in particular providing firewood for the bonfire. The evening was a great success and we look forward to next year’s display already.”
