WAXWORKS of famous Poppy Appeal patrons will be given special prominence at a resort attraction during the upcoming period of remembrance.

Statues of Helen Mirren, Susan Boyle and Barbara Windsor at Madame Tussauds, on the Promenade, will today be presented with their poppies by Ian Coleman, president of the Royal British Legion club and branch in Blackpool.

Mr Coleman said: “The Poppy Appeal is an important part of our yearly calendar, remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and raising money to help those in need today.

“Support of any kind is always needed and appreciated but to have such a high calibre of support will hopefully help us raise even more money than ever before.”

Matthew Titherington, general manager of Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said: “It’s a great honour to be able to support the British Legion Poppy Appeal this year.”
