ENTERTAINERS and musicians are being given a festive big break.
Singers, dancers, brass bands and choirs are all being asked to come forward and perform at Blackpool’s Christmas funfair and lightshow.
St John’s Square has been given a festive make-over with a family funfair, a Christmas-themed food and beverage emporium, an amazing light show plus a Santa’s grotto.
But organisers want to include local performers in their regular Thursday evening live entertainment shows and possibly on other nights between now and when the winter wonderland comes to an end on January 5.
The shows, co-incide with late night shopping and free parking in the town and include the stars of Blackpool North Pier’s Family Christmas Shows in the Merrie England Show Bar.
Stephen Mercer, from North Pier, said, “We have some great entertainment lined up for Thursday evenings in St John’s Square.
“However we want to open up the performance space to others.
“In doing so we would very much like to invite choirs, bands, musicians and entertainers to get in touch to enable us to put together a full programme of family-friendly live entertainment that will take place throughout the festive period at the Christmas Funfair.”
Eileen Ormand, Blackpool town centre manager, said the offer was open to anyone wishing to perform in front of the packed crowds.
She added, “Although we have focused on Thursday evening with regards to entertainment as this has been Blackpool’s traditional late night shopping days, we would very much like to put entertainment on in St John’s on other days and evenings too.
“Please do get in touch with Stephen if you would like to part of the Christmas magic in Blackpool town centre”.
