THE chance to learn how to skate with Blackpool champion Dan Whiston is proving a popular pastime.

The Dancing on Ice star has joined forces with the programme’s judge, Karen Barber, to put on a skating masterclass at the Sub Zero ice rink in Cleveleys.

Pupils take to the ice at Dan Whiston and Karen Barber's Skate School at Sub Zero, Cleveleys.

But places booked so quickly, the duo are putting on a second class to meet the demand.

And they’re urging anyone who wants to learn to slalom, chasse and crossover to book their places, before they are all snapped up.

Dan, 36, said: “So many people wanted to come, we sold out as soon as we put it on Twitter. It was amazing how fast people responded to it.

“We decided to put on another masterclass this week so we can see as many people in Blackpool as possible, but places are filling up again.”

The two-hour long class offers a warm up off the ice, a skating session with the stars and an autograph-signing session.

Greig Appleby, managing director at Sub Zero, said: “Last week’s school saw people travelling from down south and from Scotland.

“He always puts on a good show for them.”

The next masterclass is on from 3.30pm this Saturday, April 6.
