Two sisters with a love of the past have opened their own vintage store to create an air of nostalgia in Poulton.

Family business partners Jenny and Suzy Rowe sell stylish clothing and jewellery reminiscent of the 1940s and 50s in Holloways of Poulton on Tithebarn Street.

What began life as a craft fair with homemade jewellery and one dress has now grown into their own studio shop which stays true to regional suppliers and designers.

Jenny, 23, said: “It’s a niche market and there’s not a lot of people who sell these kinds of things. We are for the curvier woman but get all sorts of people in who all feel good when they get here.

“It’s nice to have a business like this.

“We used to support ourselves in different jobs but had to quit once the shop took off.”

Jenny is training to be a teacher as well as running her own business alongside her 25-year-old sister.

She added: “We started with one craft fair back in January and it grew into one every month.

“We both work here full time and have replica style clothing from the 40s and 50s, hand-made crafts and original artwork from local students.

“We’ve met some good people and we are supporting a lot of local businesses by bringing their stock into our shop.”

The pair’s shop has a real affinity to the vintage era of 60 years ago and provides small reminders of the decades it is associated with through images of Marilyn Monroe and posters of the iconic Rosie the Riveter from the Second World War.

Jenny added: “We’ve met some good people and we are supporting a lot of local businesses by bringing their stock into our shop.”
