STRICTLY Come Dancing might have favoured Wembley Arena over Blackpool Tower this year but some of the nation’s top steppers were still hot to trot in the resort over the weekend.
The Winter Gardens’ Empress Ballroom was filled with hundreds of dancers, thousands of spectators and countless sequins for the British National Dance Championships.
Competitions in both ballroom and Latin were held for juniors, juveniles, amateurs and professionals over Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with world champions also putting on dazzling displays.
Dancers from across the country and beyond took part in 60 competitions as part of the championships, considered to be the most glittering event in the national dance calendar.
Organiser Sandra Wilson said: “It went fantastically.
“We had nearly 900 entrants, around 6,000 spectators and new champions in our midst.
“The atmosphere was great.”
