Dancers from Blackpool Sixth Form College have been selected as founder members of an exciting dance project.

The six teenagers, all studying A-Level or BTEC dance, are all part of Fylde Coast Youth Dance Company, co-ordinated by the dance development officer for Blackpool Council, Sarah Hall.

Emily Shuck, Ryan Fenton, Ellie Owen, Lydia May Hurley, Zoe Norbury and Katie Summer have already performed at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, as a curtain-raiser for 2Faced Dance company’s show Out Of His Skin, after taking part in a workshop with one of the company’s lead dancers.

Ryan, 17, from Layton, said: “My involvement with the company has taught me about pushing yourself and making the smallest detail full of power.”

Classmate Emily, 17, from Normoss, added: “The different companies we get to work with are inspirational and the experience has enabled me to grow as a performer.”
