A Blackpool dance troupe will have to raise £10,000 to compete at a European dance tournament in Germany.
Two groups from the Urban Dance Project , which is based in Bispham, were delighted to make it through the United Dance Organisation’s heats – securing their place in the UDO European Championships in Kalkar, Germany, in May, and the UDO World Championships in Glasgow in August.
Michelle Ramsey, founder of Urban Dance Project, said she was proud of the dancers and added this is where the hard work really begins for the youngsters, as they have to raise £10,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs.
She said: “Two of our crews successfully managed to compete and qualify at UDO North West, earning them a life changing opportunity to compete and represent Blackpool at the European and World Championships.
“We would love to have this opportunity of being able to go to represent Blackpool the best we can.
“We are proposing fundraising events with the proceeds going towards the cost of travel and accommodation.
“We also are proposing sponsorships to promote local businesses.
“And finally we are hoping for a donation, no matter how big or small but something to help these dancers to take part in such a life changing opportunity.
“Any help would be beneficial and we all would be incredibly thankful.”
