THE star of one of Britain’s best-loved comedies is set to come and enjoy ice-cream in a Kirkham bookshop.
John Challis – who played second-hand car dealer Boycie in classic show Only Fools and Horses – is the latest star confirmed to appear at bookstore and ice-cream parlour Silverdell, on Poulton Street.
The actor will be in town on Saturday, June 30, and will be signing copies of his new book, Being Boycie, from 11am.
Then, the shop’s co-owner Elaine Silverwood is set to whisk him off to her Blackpool business – ice-cream parlour Sundaes, in Cedar Square – to sign more books for locals and tourists from 1pm.
Elaine said: “It is the 30th anniversary of Only Fools and Horses this year and it’s quite a coup to get Boycie in the shop.
“His book is an insight into John’s life on stage and screen, and I’m really pleased to have him coming.
“It’s been a while since we had a signing in the shop and I’m very happy to be hosting this one.
“Afterwards I’ll take him to Sundaes – it is a Saturday in the season so it should be very busy.”
Anyone wishing to have their book signed should purchase a copy from Silverdell.
