THESE dancers showed they know how to strut their stuff at the 87th annual Ballroom and Latin British Championships in the Winter Gardens.
Professional and amateur contestants from around the world descended on the Fylde coast last week, as the competition kicked off in a flurry of feathers and tiaras.
The nine-day event, which began last Thursday, will see 2,500 dancers take part in the competition while thousands of other people, including friends, family and keen spectators, head to town to be part of the extravaganza.
The festival, the biggest to take place in Blackpool throughout the year, is the culmination of 12 months’ work by organiser Sandra Wilson, who says the resort is the home of dancing in the UK.
And this week already, traders in town have seen competitors flooding into shops with the trademark heavy make-up and styled coiffeurs.
Heats will take place throughout the week, with the finals in the Empress Ballroom this weekend.
