Some of the very best of new British comedy will be live on stage at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Monday, November 12.
Tickets are now on sale for the BBC Radio 2 New Comedy Awards.
The Grand has been chosen to host the final of this year’s awards – a UK wide search for the best stand-up talent culminating in the live, hour-long final at The Grand, hosted by comedian and television personality, Patrick Kielty.
He will be joined by a panel of esteemed comedy judges – including Stephen K Amos – to cast judgement before they hand over to the public who will cast the final vote.
With performances from the six regional finalists the night will also include live music and stand-up from one of the previous winners of the award – who include Rhod Gilbert, Alan Carr and Josie Long.
More than 800 acts entered the competition, 80 acts are currently competing in eight regional heats held across the country and 12 will be selected to go through to the semi finals where six acts will be chosen to go through to the Blackpool final which is being broadcast live on Radio 2 and BBC Red Button on Monday November 12.
The six finalists will go head to head for the chance to be crowned winner of the BBC New Comedy Award 2012, with a prize of £1,000 and a commission with BBC Radio Comedy.
The BBC New Comedy Award initially ran from 1995 to 2005. In 2011 Radio 2 and BBC Radio Comedy revived the award and put the spotlight back on seeking out the best new talent in the UK. During the break between the two live broadcasts there will be guest appearances from the cream of the UK comedy circuit.
Tickets are £9. Before October 1 there is a two for the price of one offer.
