The Kirkham Singers were founded in 2001 under the direction of Kathryn Barnett-Battersby. It was re-formed from the local inter-church choir of which Kathryn had been a member as a schoolgirl to keep singing as an important part of the community.
The choir is friendly and supportive and is open to anyone who shows ability, commitment, and above all enjoys singing with others. It has a membership of over 40 and rehearses each Monday evening at St Michael’s Church room, Kirkham.
Its repertoire encompasses a wide variety of musical styles including classical, gospel, pop ballads and songs from musicals. A proportion of the money raised from performances goes to at least two chosen charities each year.
