The Kirkham Singers are celebrating their 10th anniversary and one of their special events to mark the occasion is a Gala Concert on Friday at St Michael’s Church in Kirkham.

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm also features The Has Bins Brass, The Red Rose Barbershop Chorus and The LMS Kirkham Music Centre Choir and Band

Tickets are £6 (children 14 and under £3) and are available from Silverdell Bookshop Kirkham, Talking Heads Wesham, or any choir member. Tickets include celebration refreshments of Cava and cup cakes.

The concert will include many loved songs and popular music for everyone to enjoy.

The Kirkham Singers were founded in 2001 under the direction of Kathryn Barnett-Battersby. It was re-formed from the local inter-church choir of which Kathryn had been a member as a schoolgirl to keep singing as an important part of the community.

The choir is friendly and supportive and is open to anyone who shows ability, commitment, and above all enjoys singing with others. It has a membership of over 40 and rehearses each Monday evening at St Michael’s Church room, Kirkham.

Its repertoire encompasses a wide variety of musical styles including classical, gospel, pop ballads and songs from musicals. A proportion of the money raised from performances goes to at least two chosen charities each year.
