The Vidella hotel, Dickson Road, Blackpool has been revamped by the Hotel Inspector television show. Owners John Downer and Neil Williams with presenter Alex Polizzi.

A pair of hotel owners are set to star in a show aimed at turning their business around.

John Downer and Neil Williams, of the Hotel Vidella, on Dickson Road, North Shore, will feature in tomorrow night’s episode of the Channel Five series The Hotel Inspector.

The show will see host Alex Polizzi, herself a former hotelier, try to transform the hotel by getting the duo to work together and revamp the premises.

A spokesman for the show said: “Neil and John were best friends when they took over The Vidella Hotel in Blackpool a decade ago.

“They both love a practical joke and guests certainly need a sense of humour to stay there.

“There are bangers in the wardrobe, fake insects in the breakfasts and a pound coin stuck to the floor in reception.

“However, the jokes are wearing thin and things have started to take their toll. Neil and John have called in the Hotel Inspector in a final attempt to turn their struggling business around.”

The hotel’s grand reopening took place in September after five weeks of filming.

Speaking to The Gazette at the event, Alex said: “It’s always a challenge when I come and do these jobs.

“But John and Neil have worked incredibly hard.

“It’s so much easier when you have hoteliers who work with you rather than against you.”

To find out whether Alex managed to turn the struggling hotel around, tune in to Channel Five tomorrow at 9pm.
