He is the popular star of ITV’s Dancing on Ice – but it seems some fans have gone too far in wanting a Dan Whiston of their own.
The Blackpool skater, famous for winning the competition three times, has, or should you say had, a lifesize cut-out of himself in the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre until a few days ago.
But two men seem bigger fans than most – seemingly taking the cardboard stand of Dan for themselves.
Dan said: “I couldn’t believe it when I got a call to say I had gone missing. I thought it was a joke at first but then I realised it was my cardboard cut-out.”
The cut-out was being displayed in the Houndshill to promote Dan’s Zumba classes as he has recently qualified as a Zumba instructor and is holding classes at venues across the Fylde Coast.
However, it appears the cut-out has proved too popular with some fans and it is suspected one may have decided to take it home.
Two men in their 20s were seen leaving the Houndshill with the cut-out shortly before 5pm on Saturday July 19.
Dan added: “It’s a bit annoying but I do also think it’s quite funny that someone has taken it. I just hope that it was for someone’s mum or a grandma’s birthday and that I am now watching TV with them in their lounge.
“It would be nice to get it back though so if someone does want to own up to having it I’d be happy if they just left it somewhere and posted a photo on social media so I can try and find it.”
