Blackpool Hilton Hotel’s legendary night club Springs will be bringing back the boogie tomorrow as it opens its disco doors from 8pm to 2am for a one-off charity event this hosted by the Fylde coast’s Godfather of Soul and Funk, DJ Eddie Gee.

The special charity evening – Nostalgia: Bringing Back The Boogie – is in aid of Brian House Trinity Hospice and has been organised by Eddie Gee to raise money for Cancer Research.

“This is a rare opportunity for the discerning over 25’s crowd to visit the much missed Springs, dance the night away, listen to and enjoy a fantastic mix of classic music,” said Eddie. “The night is aimed at all the party people and characters who remember the disco delights of the resort’s finest clubbing era with the likes of Lemon Tree, Trader Jacks, Springs, Just Ji’s and the Adam and Eve.

Eddie wil be sharing the limelight with Mike Vitte from Ronnie Scott’s and Fergie (Just Jis).

“The atmosphere and quality of music played is going to be unlike anywhere experienced in Blackpool for a long a time – pure nostalgia, good times and great tunes,” said Eddie

Admission is free but donations are welcome and there will be a host of raffle prizes to be won including a painting of Barry White from Eddie’s personal collection.

“Many people, including myself, have experienced or witnessed a family member or a friend who is, or has suffered from cancer and I am working very closely with Teresa Hodgkinson from Brian House Trinity Hospice and Val Bradford from Cancer Research UK in Cleveleys to organise fund raising events such as this one,” added Eddie.

His new internet radio show will be starting on www.globegigradio.com on Sunday night from 8pm to 11pm. “I will be fresh from the nostalgia evening with all the hot gossip and top funk so be sure to tune in.

“So please come down and support the Nostalgia event and I am looking forward to seeing all the friendly faces and fans of great music this Saturday night!”
