Demo Review: The Blue Waves

Waiting for Video...

We asked to hear your music and it’s great to see demos arriving. This week’s demo review comes from The Blue Waves – a Blackpool band who have recently recorded their four-track demo with Resort Beat’s friends at Rock Hard Studios in North Shore.

It’s plain from the sound of the recording, which kicks off with I Bet You Know, who this group’s big influences are.

There’s melodic guitar riffs and driving beats which hark back to the heyday of Oasis with just a hint of the rawness of The Libertines and a vocal which gives more than just a little nod to the Arctic Monkeys.

Not that it’s rock and roll by numbers. The lyrics are clever, the sound mature for such a young group.

Second up is Tia Maria, another indie stomper which throws me right back to a grubby record store in the mid-nineties... no bad thing I can assure you.

Silhouette of a Shadow girl shows a more subtle side to The Blue Waves.

It’s a chilled out combination of chiming guitars and surprise breaks, neatly written and a decent demonstration this group are far from a one trick pony.

It’s back to that big fuzzed up guitar sound for the finale, Deep Lagoon, certainly worth a listen,
