Soap star Hayley Tamaddon gets back to her Blackpool roots tonight on arcade-based TV game show Tipping Point Lucky Stars – with Fylde youngsters set to reap the rewards.

The Coronation Street actress lines up alongside top gymnast and Strictly Come Dancing winner Louis Smith and X Factor winner Sam Bailey, as well as Tipping Point host Ben Shepherd, in a bid to win a cash price for their chosen charities.

Hayley will compete for Brian House children’s hospice, answering questions to win counters to play in the coin pusher slots machine.

“Coming from Blackpool, you would imagine I’d do really well on the game – and the coin machine bit was brilliant,” the 37-year-old ex-Montgomery High School pupil said.

“It was the questions which were the difficult bit.

“It needed a lot of editing as none of us knew any of the answers.

“The audience had a great time, they were in stitches.”

This week has seen Hayley’s Coronation Street character Andrea come to the fore of action.

Since meeting Rovers Return landlord Steve McDonald at college, she’s been dating his best friend Lloyd, played by Craig Charles, and has been something of a third wheel in the guys’ bromance.

But she’s been hiding a secret – the fact she has a husband of 20 years.

The shock revelation was made to Lloyd in some emotional scenes last Friday night, and has played out all this week.

“Work has been non-stop for me at the moment, so doing something for the hospice is such a great opportunity,” she said. And it’s tied in really nicely with the big storyline.

“The hospice is a brilliant place and has changed so much recently, with everyone chipping in to help.”

Hayley is a long-time supporter of Brian House, with previous donations including the £30,000 jackpot she won on All Star Family Fortunes in 2010.

Hayley’s close friend, and Dancing On Ice partner, Dan Whiston appeared on the show last summer, donating £500 to the hospice - although it’s hoped Hayley’s contribution will be even better.

Head of fundraising Linzi Young said: “It means so much to us; not just in terms of the cash but also because it raises our profile across a huge audience. Needless to say, the kids and staff at Brian House will be crowding around the big screen tonight to watch.”

Bubbly Hayley is currently starring as Andrea in the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.

Her character has been caught in a ‘love triangle’ between Steve McDonald and Lloyd Mullaney.

“I have known for ages that this was the direction the writers were taking with Andrea,” Hayley said. “It has a long way to go too, and will be really good.

“I still can’t believe I’m on Coronation Street, as I’ve been lucky enough to have been in Emmerdale too.

“My mum is over the moon I’m in Corrie – I was almost called Tracy, after Tracy Barlow.

“I used to work in the Coronation Street set attraction in Blackpool and when we did our training at Granada, I remember thinking ‘One day I’ll be in this. I’d really like to stay in Corrie. I’m waiting for a new contract, so fingers crossed.”

Watch Tipping Point Lucky Stars tonight, ITV, 7.30pm.
