Thousands of pigeon fanciers are expected to swoop on the resort today for the annual British Homing World Show of the Year.

The three day event, at the Winter Gardens has something for everyone, regardless if they are novices to the sport or seasoned veterans, and has featured since 1973.

This year’s shows expect to attract 25,000 people to the resort.

Fanciers can buy anything from a £25,000 mahogany loft to a bag of pigeon corn at one of the 200 trade stores inside the Empress Ballroom.

The three days will also see thousands of pigeons change hands during sales and auctions where the birds are sold for anything from £10 to £10,000.

A gala evening on the Saturday will take place a the Tower Ballroom, at 8pm, as part of the weekend.

Performances from the Bradford Belles Zumba Dancers comedian Ricky Kay and a Michael Jackson tribute act will form part of the evening.
