A boxing legend is set to come to Blackpool this autumn.
Former undisputed champion of the world Evander Holyfield will spend a number of days in the resort as part of a UK tour.
He will appear at the De Vere Hotel in October to answer questions from fans, but the promoter bringing him to the town also hopes to show him the sights of Blackpool during the Illuminations season.
It is even hoped the American may be tempted into attending a match at Bloomfield Road during his stay.
Promoter Karl Etherington, who also runs the Universe Gym, in Marton, said: “He’ll be spending a number of days here and we’re hoping, if the weekend falls on a home game, to suggest we take him to Bloomfield Road.
“He’s expressed an interest in all sports so it’d be a good thing for us to do.
“He’ll be using the facilities at my gym too and we’re hoping to show him some of the sights in Blackpool because it’s going to be right in the middle of Illuminations season.”
Karl and fellow promoter Spencer Brown have previously brought boxing legends Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr, Mike Tyson and Nigel Benn to the resort for question and answer sessions.
Karl hopes Holyfield, who once famously had part of his ear bitten off by Tyson during a bout, will be able to offer advice to up and coming Fylde coast fighters as well as attracting more than just sports enthusiasts to attend.
He said: “It’s usually quite a similar group of people that come to most shows but we want to open this one up.
“We always make sure the local lads get a bit of time with these legends who come over too.
“It’s great because we’ve got a great boxing reputation in the town.”

Tickets cost £80 per person.
