Pacha’s Blackpool Christmas Ball organiser Richard Porteus says he just can’t wait for December 22 to roll around.

“When we got confirmation that Norman Jay MBE – the Godfather of funk/house and soul – was going to join us this year at the Blackpool Christmas Ball we could hardly contain ourselves,” said Richard. “He is one of the most iconic DJ´s of all time, a true purveyor of quality music covering all genres. To say we are excited is an understatement, Norman Jay, Pacha, The Tower Ballroom, what a combination it’s going to be!

“He is arguably one of the finest and most respected DJ’s in the world today whose talents and many years of dedicated service to his profession have now seen him rightfully acknowledged by the highest authority in the land.”

Ten years ago Norman was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for “DJ’ing and services to music” – a fitting tribute in recognition of his many outstanding musical achievements and invaluable contributions to the world of popular dance music in a career spanning well over two decades.

Joining Norman will be PBR Streetgang – the hottest DJ/production duo around.

“They are set to be the next big thing in 2013 and we can’t wait for them to take to the Main Stage at the Ball,” said Richard. “PBR Streetgang have had huge success in 2012 and we know it’s going to be one heck of a set.”

PBR Streetgang are Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe – one of the most impressive partnerships to form through the Leeds nightlife circuit. PBR counts fans from luminaries such as Crazy P and Greg Wilson to Clive Henry and Derrick Carter. Their unique musical approach threads Paradise Garage disco to deep groovy house and tracky beats seamlessly, never failing to connect with the crowd.

Honing their craft at the legendary Asylum parties in Leeds, the duo shared a booth with what reads like a who’s who of dance music.

In recent years, the duo have turned their hands to production with critically acclaimed releases on labels such as 2020 Vision, Paper, Wolf Music and Southern Fried Records.
