The Lytham Beer Festival is back – and all set to bring extra cheer to the town’s economy.

Traders, pub landlords and civic leaders are toasting the return of the three-day event to Lowther Pavilion in September after a year’s break – and hopes are high that this time it is here to stay.

The seventh festival to be held at Lowther will be hosted by the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and will take place over the weekend of September 4-6.

And Lytham businesses are relishing welcoming hundreds of extra visitors hot on the heels of the thousands which will flock to town in August for the Proms Festival and the Wartime Weekend.

“It’s marvellous news – and a real win–win situation for the whole town,” said Robert Silverwood, vice-chairman of the Lytham Business Group.

“The festival developed a real following over the years it was held previously and it meant extra business throughout town, not just for pubs but for all kinds of businesses, as visitors made their way to the event.

“We are already looking forward to a great summer with a super line-up for Lytham Proms and the Wartime Weekend sure to bring in thousands and this is a great addition to the calendar.”
