AN author who has charted the changing face of Blackpool over the last 200 years paid a visit to the resort to sign copies of his latest book.

John Burke was at Waterstones in Bank Hey Street on Saturday to meet people and chat about the book, Blackpool Then and Now.

Senior Book Seller at the store Margaret Sheridan said: “The event went very well, and I think John enjoyed it.

“He said it was an interesting afternoon, and that he was pleased people had come up to talk to him about the book over the three hours he was here.”

Blackpool Then and Now sold a number of copies throughout the afternoon, and Margaret said the store in the resort had sold even more since it came out just before Christmas.

She added: “It’s a very tastefully presented book, and we expect a steady stream of sales all the time.”

The next author to visit the Blackpool store will be pre-teen fiction writer Cathy Cassidy, author of the Chocolate Box Girls series, who will be signing copies of her new book, Summer’s Dream on March 2 between 3pm and 4.30pm.
