SPORTS car maker TVR has unveiled its plans for a future on the Fylde coast.
As exclusively revealed in The Gazette three months ago, the company has moved its design and development arm into a workshop on the outskirts of Wesham.
Mystery had surrounded the appearance of a huge TVR sign at Wesham House Farm on the A585 in April this year.
But at a secret preview event yesterday, managing director David Oxley unveiled the company's latest creation – the Sagaris 2.
The new-look car is the first to be designed at the firm's latest location and has been described as one of a number of "new generation" TVRs.
Bosses had been tight-lipped over the operation in south Fylde following its acrimonious departure from Blackpool and its historic factory at Bristol Avenue in Bispham.
More than 250 workers at the factory were made redundant last January after millionaire owner Nikolai Smolenski said he was moving the manufacture of his cars to an, as yet, unnamed European country.
There is still no news on where this could be.
Mr Oxley confirmed the site in Wesham is TVR's development centre.
But he declined to say how many people it employed or any details into its operation.
He added: "We've held an event to show off the new works at Wesham.
"This is only part of the work which is going into a new generation of TVRs which are being built elsewhere."
Wesham House Farm was previously the home of Submarine Manufacturing and Products Ltd which has now relocated to Blackpool.
The site is owned by local businessman Phil Connolly.
His company MSS Holdings was given planning permission by Fylde Council for a new storage and workshop building at the farm last autumn.
Nine years ago TVR employed 750 people at its Bispham factory in Bispham.
But in December 2006 it was placed into administration only to be bought back by Mr Smolenski.
Coun Simon Renwick, ward councillor for Medlar-with-Wesham, said: "This seems quite promising.
"It will be quite exciting to have such a prestigious name in Wesham.
"I am always willing to work with any new companies which come into the local area."
