Lewis Edge returned in goal for this Unibond First Division North fixture at third-bottom Salford, with striker Chris Downey back after a long absence.
Skipper Joe Booth missed out through injury and was replaced by Matt Mahoney in midfield, but
a new-look Salford City were a very different proposition this time round.
Rhodri Giggs, brother of Ryan, caused Fylde's backline all sorts of problems with his pace alongside 19-year-old strike partner Craig Mahon, released from Wigan Athletic earlier this season.
After 10 minutes, Fylde's Danny Penswick limped off with an ankle injury and was replaced by Matt Lawlor.
Giggs and Mahon both tested Edge with shots from the edge of the box but Fylde scored against the run of play on the half-hour.
Matt Mahoney ran on to a through ball from full-back Neil Uberschor and, after bursting into the box, clipped the ball past new Salford keeper Scott Tynan, signed from Northwich Victoria in midweek.
Michael Barnes had a great chance to grab a quickfire second three minutes later, after exchanging passes with Mahoney on the edge of the box, but his rasping drive flew inches wide of Tynan's far post.
Barnes then tested Tynan again but the keeper pulled off a double save and it remained 1-0 to Fylde at the break.
Salford started the second half like they did the first and on 51 minutes another new signing, Lee Neville, broke free down the left, seizing a long ball over the top and showing the Fylde defenders a clean pair of heals before shooting underneath Edge to equalise.
Fylde again came back into it, with Matty Kay becoming influential in midfield. They could have re-gained the lead on the hour mark Matty Kay went close for Fylde with a curling effort which was headed off the line.
Salford were always looking to the pacy duo of Giggs and Mahon to create openings, and on 65 minutes Giggs directed a header inches over the bar when he seemed odds on to score.
On 71 minutes the home side went in front, Giggs racing clear down the right and slipping the ball into the box for Mahon to slide home. Fylde appealed for offside but the goal stood.
Six minutes later and it was game over for Fylde as defender Phil Doughty, running towards his goal with livewire Mahon, could only direct a cross into his own net.
Frustrated Fylde boss Kelham O'Hanlon said: "Again we have created some goalscoring opportunities and we haven't taken them. It's proving very frustrating and is something we will be looking to address. We conceded soft goals. We really should be getting results against teams below us in the table and we've got some work to do in both these areas."
Fylde have a tough test on Saturday at promotio-chasing Curzon Ashton.
